The CLAT Consortium has issued a press release on 21st Nov'19 in which the pattern and the date of CLAT 2020 have been mentioned. Highlights of the press release are given below.

  • The pattern for CLAT 2020 will have comprehension-based questions from Quantitative Techniques, English, Current Affairs, Legal Reasoning and Logical Reasoning.
  • The President of the CLAT Consortium and Vice-Chancellor of NALSAR, said that the reason for the change is to get better students, who have competence in reading texts and demonstrate skills in inferential reasoning, into the NLUs.
  • The number of questions will also be reduced from 200 to 150.
  • Quantitative analysis will be based on 10th standard mathematics content.
  • The mode of exam will continue to be Paper & Pencil based with a total duration of two hours.
  • The exam will be conducted on 10th of May 2020.
  • The paper will have questions on "Current Affairs including General Knowledge.
  • Selection Criteria: CLAT Score only

The pattern of Question Paper for the UG Courses in CLAT-2020 is as follows:

Subject Areas with weightage:(approximate number of questions)

English Language28-32 questions, or roughly 20% of the paper

Current Affairs, including General Knowledge35-39 questions, or roughly 25% of the paper

Legal Reasoning35-39 questions, or roughly 25% of the paper

Logical Reasoning28-32 questions, or roughly 20% of the paper

Quantitative Techniques13-17 questions, or roughly 10% of the paper
